. : : What the Feck? : : .

FECK is a small media company based in inner Melbourne, Australia. We're on a mission to make better erotica, and make it just as rewarding for the contributor as it is for the audience. We don't like contemporary porn; not because it's immoral, or exploitative, or unhealthy - it's just that most of it is badly made, often degrading to the women (and men) involved, but also to human sexuality in general. But it doesn't need to be.
We started in 2003 with an idea - what if women were put in charge of their own image, took all their own pictures? Would there be people out there interested in doing that, and what sort of images would they submit? And so we started www.ishotmyself.com, a totally unique concept where women (and sometimes men) photograph themselves, any way they want, naked. We successfully challenged the idea that erotica had to fit the mainstream, mostly male-promoted stereotypes; in particular the assumption that it has a mostly male audience. The results were outstanding, and we've received an incredible body of images from a diverse range of contributors, reflecting their different motives; sometimes beautiful, sometimes shocking, sometimes sexy, and sometimes political. About a year later launched an experimental website, www.beautifulagony.com, testing an idea we had - that porn failed to be erotic because of its distance from reality, and if we could capture the moment of real orgasm, then all we need to show is the face. And so we could make a highly erotic website with no nudity whatsoever. Beautiful Agony soon overtook I Shot Myself in popularity, which says something very encouraging about the values of a society that has access to so much hardcore porn. It has since been featured in many newspapers, magazines, and on TV and radio around the world. We are on permanent display in several venues including the Sex Museum in New York, the 'Nemo' centre in Amsterdam, and London's 'Amora Academy of Sex and Relationships'.

Feck soon had a reputation for making great, and original, ethical erotica. In the years since, we've been adding more sites, including www.sonicerotica.com, an erotic web site for the vision impaired. We maintain an emphasis on quality, participation, and subverting the stereotypes which dominate mainstream porn. We employ about 20 people full time, mostly women, about half of whom are current contributors to our sites.
